Why It Matters
Why It Matters
The Pink Duck Race is about much more than a race.
It started with a simple idea: to bring people together in the fight against breast cancer, raise awareness, and make a meaningful contribution to research and support.
But over the years, we have discovered that a Pink Duck can mean so much more.
You can adopt a duck for yourself, but you can also adopt one for someone you care about. A friend, a colleague, a family member, or someone who is going through a difficult time. It can be a small gesture carrying a big message: I’m thinking of you. I’m with you. You are not alone.
One story that captures the spirit of the Pink Duck Race is Tinneke’s.
During a difficult period in her life, Tinneke received Pink Ducks from friends, colleagues and loved ones, each one carrying a message of courage, hope and solidarity. When she discovered that one of the ducks adopted for her had won the race, she described the moment as a gift in the middle of a dark time:
“I’m floating on a pink cloud right now. Never expected this. It’s been over a year of nothing but bad news, and now this. I haven’t stopped smiling.”
Her story reminds us why every Pink Duck matters.
Because behind every duck is a person. Someone who wants to support a loved one. Someone who wants to raise awareness. Someone who believes in better outcomes for people affected by breast cancer.
That is the heart of the Pink Duck Race.
We race to raise awareness.
We race to raise funds.
We race to bring people together.
And above all, we race to show people affected by breast cancer that they are not alone.
